Team History
The team Cephatron # 1860 is made up of students from school CEPHAS - Professional Education Center Hélio Augusto de Souza in partnership with the sponsor and technical supporter Johnson & Johnson, as well as volunteers and former students. After four seasons, the team already is an example of teamwork and commitment to the community through technology.
Since the beginning the team defined a goal: to represent the region and the country where they live. Therefore, the colors and logo are characteristic of the culture of the region. The colors blue and yellow represent the "Paraiba do Sul" river and the yellow the riches of the region. The logo, Maned Wolf, was chosen not only because it is an animal native to the region, but also because of their agility and intelligence to win. Its characteristics are exemplary and motivating, but unfortunately it is a species that is endangered.
In spite their families, their passion for the FIRST competition is so great that even after a routine loaded with work and school they can find the strength to engage, even if it is necessary to lose nights of sleep.
The growth of the team is solid and great because of the experiences gained during the development of the project and, because of that, it was possible to understand the real purpose of the FIRST organization. Every season the students of Cephatron have grown professionally and intellectually. We now know how FIRST is important to our careers, because all the difficulties we spent during the season, are the basis for living ruled life even outside of school.
The team Cephatron has a philosophy: "No one is so great that it can not learn, nor so small that it can not teach" was thinking this way that the team has done an excellent job in 2006 and 2007 and feel even more motivated to continue this work which aims to spread science and technology in society, showing the importance that education have in people's lives.
The FIRST competition gave the team an unforgettable experience. Teachings that are the basis to continue the journey in search of a better quality of life, where men and machines work together. One always helping each other in building the future.
From the beginning the team was enchanted with the "First World" and understand what all this means for the scientific community and for each one of us, since not drop more!
Today success is not only ours, but the whole society that works in favor of continuous improvement in education by recognizing the importance of science and technology.
Decolar Project
Since 2008 the team Cephatron in partnership with the city of Sao Jose dos Campos, is developing the Project Takeoff. This program was created by the city since 2007 to identify talented students in public schools and provide opportunities for the development of their talents through activities carried out in time contrary to the lessons. Cephatron The team has a very important role in this project, it aims at the same FIRST, disseminate science technology to the community in a fun, so we used the kit from LEGO (NXT) to promote competitions between these children and encourage them to create.
Ação Juventude Fair
Among the many events the team participates, the highlight is the "Ação Juventude" (Youth Action). This fair is held every two months in neighborhoods in all parts of the city. The project is an initiative of the city to maintain low-income youth busy bringing them to cultural activities, practice and learn new sports and other activities such as our team who sought space at the event to show a little of what is FIRST. We show through dynamic presentations that you can have fun and gain knowledge for that use robots from past seasons and lego robots with their duties to the community teach the basics of the program (NXT), and the public was enchanted with the idea have made the robot move.
Papa-pilha Project
Papa-Pilhas Project (baterry collection), developed by students of the team aimed at community awareness about the importance of contributing to the preservation of the environment. I warned them about the harm to health caused by chemicals in batteries is our main goal. Thus the team leaves containers at various points in wide circulation, so that everyone can participate and contribute to the preservation of the environment.
In the dictionary we find the following definition of "mentor, who advises or teaches another, guide, counselor; intellectual guide." But will mentor was that all? Technically yes, but it would be a great injustice to speak of our mentors to these terms only because they represent to us friends, people who are not afraid to tell the truth, which correct our faults, demanding and dedicated people.
All of them are more than mentors, they are teachers, friends, brothers, and sometimes even uncles. They give us the opportunity to accomplish our dreams, learn, grow, and correct our mistakes. We should be proud and thank them for having these great examples of responsibility and solidarity.
The team became a family, of which the mentors are a key part for that reason our mentors never leave the team and each year our number of mentors only increases, new mentors come and those who were still giving their support to the family Cephatron. This year the team has the direct help of about 20 mentors, to which all students are very grateful to voluntarily donate their time, resources, and share your knowledge with the team.
Sponsors
The team is very grateful to all those who can not attend the room, but giving all the financial support that allows us to build robots and compete in regional. During the season the team has the support of several companies that help with registration, parts, food, printing and travels.
To meet these needs the team has the support of companies like Johnson & Johnson, FUNDHAS the CEPHAS. Each partner is extremely important, but to make everithing right it is necessary to take an organization forward in the situation and is wondering this that the team has the pleasure to thank Johnson & Johnson for all these years of helping, and FUNDHAS that made this dream possible for us in 2010.
